    EMPLOYMENT

DPOR is committed to attracting talented, motivated people to join its team. Our employees enjoy a friendly work environment emphasizing teamwork and professional development, as well as competitive benefits packages.

DPOR lists current job openings on the Commonwealth of Virginia Job Site, where you can create an application profile, edit your profile, apply for new jobs without re-entering application information, and review the status of positions for which you previously applied. DPOR only accepts applications submitted online through Jobs.Virginia.Gov.

     BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Members of DPOR regulatory boards are appointed by the Governor. (With the exception of the Board for Branch Pilots, appointed by the circuit courts in Hampton Roads, and advisory board members appointed by the DPOR Director.) The Secretary of the Commonwealth coordinates the selection process and administers an online application process for candidates.

All Virginians are encouraged to participate in the government of our Commonwealth by offering to serve on a board or by recommending qualified candidates. Please remember, all DPOR boards are public bodies and board members are subject to public and press attention. Board members must file financial disclosure statements that are available for public review.

Service on a board is voluntary and members are not paid a stipend. Board members may be reimbursed for certain eligible travel expenses. To learn more about the board appointment process or to apply, visit https://commonwealth.virginia.gov/va-government/gubernatorial-appointments/.
    INTERNSHIPS
DPOR’s Internship Program offers a structured, supervised work experience for students in a setting that complements their educational and professional development goals. Our real-world, hands-on internships provide the opportunity to explore public-sector career paths and acquire skill sets transferrable to any office environment.

The responsibility for determining whether a DPOR internship qualifies for academic credit rests solely with the interested student. The awarding of academic credit for DPOR internships depends solely on each educational institution’s own criteria.

The deadline for DPOR's 2015 Summer Internship Program is passed.
