Effective January 2, 2014, significant streamlining will affect the application and examination process for individuals seeking licensure by the Board for Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators and Onsite Sewage System Professionals (WWWOOSSP Board) at the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR).

All applicants for WWWOOSSP Board-related exams now must submit forms directly to the Board at DPOR. Applications submitted to NTN will be returned to the applicant and require re-submission to the Board—adding unnecessary delay to process.

Forms are available under the Forms & Applications tab.

    WHEN:

NOW (in effect as of January 2, 2014)

All applicants for WWWOOSSP Board-related exams now must submit forms directly to the Board at DPOR. Applications submitted to NTN will be returned to the applicant and require re-submission to the Board.

    WHAT & HOW:

Applicants submit Exam and License Application (with application fee) directly to the Board. Board staff reviews application to confirm the applicant is qualified to take the exam, in accordance with Board regulations. Once qualifications are verified, Board staff sends Examination Eligibility Letter to both the applicant and the exam vendor. Only then does applicant contact NTN, for purposes of scheduling the exam and paying exam fee. After passing the exam, NTN transmits scores to DPOR and Board staff issues the license. No additional paperwork or fee is typically required of the applicant to obtain licensure.

    Step-by-Step Guide to Process

    1. Applicant submits completed Exam and License Application—with $100 application fee and supplemental information—directly to WWWOOSSP Board at DPOR.
    2. Once WWWOOSSP Board staff verifies compliance with Board regulations, applicant receives Examination Eligibility Letter by mail from DPOR, with instructions for scheduling the exam. The exam vendor (NTN) also automatically receives notification of applicant’s eligibility status.
    3. Upon receipt of official exam eligibility notice from DPOR (but not before), applicant is solely responsible for contacting exam vendor (NTN) to schedule an appointment to take the exam.
    4. Applicant submits exam fee directly to NTN and takes exam. NTN transmits scores automatically to the Board at DPOR.
    5. Applicants who successfully pass the exam receive their license in the mail from DPOR, with no additional action typically required on the part of the applicant.
Applicants who fail to pass the exam may choose to re-take the exam by re-scheduling with NTN and submitting a new exam fee to NTN.

Exam Registration, Fees & Test Results

NTN will not schedule an applicant for the examination until it receives the official Examination Eligibility Letter from the Board verifying the applicant’s eligibility. Applicants also receive a copy of the notification letter from the Board, in order to be aware of their eligibility status.

As always, the applicant must submit the exam fee directly to NTN when scheduling their exam. After a candidate passes the exam, NTN transmits scores to DPOR and Board staff issues the license to the applicant (at the address of record provided on the initial license application).

    Other Questions?

Applicants should contact WWWOOSSP Board staff at DPOR with any questions about their applications or the application process by e-mail or phone at 804-367-8595.

Questions about exam scheduling—only from applicants already pre-approved by the Board as eligible—may be directed to the Board’s exam vendor: NTN.
