Welcome to the web site for the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Our agency serves the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia in many ways. Through this web site, we hope to familiarize you with what our agency does and the service it provides. Our chief goal is to identify and regulate those professions and occupations which have been determined to have the greatest potential for public harm. We do this by finding the least intrusive and most efficient means of accomplishing that goal.
We constantly look for ways to improve and upgrade our services. Updated information systems have enabled us to streamline the day to day operations, as well as support the rapidly changing regulatory programs. Although the number of licensed regulants has increased and the number of complaints requiring investigations has multiplied, we have improved the process and have become more efficient. With our dedicated staff and a constant eye on innovation, we will continue to meet the challenges of the future.
Again, we welcome you to our web site and invite you to visit the various components of the department and boards that we serve. New information will be added on a regular basis to continue to improve our services to you.
