DPOR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

(D I P)

The mission of the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) is to serve and protect the public through licensure of qualified individuals and businesses in professions which, if not regulated, may harm the public´s health, safety and welfare. We administer and enforce laws that demand competency and standards of professional conduct, while promoting public awareness of agency services.

The DPOR Internship Program (DIP) offers students educational and work-related experience opportunities. The internships may be paid and earn academic credit, depending on each educational institution's own criteria.

Immerse yourself in an exciting hands-on program serving the public within a government workplace. Acquiring career-related experience enhances your competitive edge. DIP provides a supervised work experience for student interns in a setting that complements their educational and professional development goals. Developing successful learning opportunities allows you to explore and gain valuable exposure to professional work environments.

To learn more about becoming an intern with DIP, please contact Rhonda G. Starr, Internship Coordinator, at (804) 367-8569 or rhonda.starr@dpor.virginia.gov
