PUBLIC RECORDS ACCESS
The Public Records Systems Section is
responsible for the collection, storage and retrieval of agency records. As a
result, the Public Records Systems Section responds to most requests for
information from the general public. All requests are handled in accordance with
the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and DPOR's Release of Information Policy
( Adobe Acrobat PDF format).

Requests for written verifications of information should be submitted in
writing. Requests may be e-mailed to the Public Records Systems Section at
publicrecords@dpor.virginia.gov
or faxed to (804) 527-4293. FOIA responses are mailed within five workdays of
receipt of the request; however, a seven work day extension may be required for
large information requests.
Reasonable charges will be assessed by the Department of Professional and
Occupational Regulation for photocopying and research.
The Public Records Section responds to requests for the following information:

- Closed Complaint Files:
- Photocopies $ .25 per page for documents exceeding 40 pages
- Review of File 10.00 per file
- License Transcripts (History of a Licensee) $40.00
In accordance with administration guidelines for executive branch agencies, the
Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation distributes copies of the
State and Local Government Conflict of Interests Act (COIA)
and
Virginia Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA) to its employees annually via electronic mail.
Distribution each July ensures that state employees understand current state law
governing conflicts of interest and release of information.
