BOARD FOR CONTRACTORS TRADESMAN LICENSURE
On July 1, 1995, the authority to regulate tradesmen engaging in the trades of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and gas-fitting was transferred from the Department of Housing and Community Development to the Board for Contractors.
While the regulations provide the regulatory framework for the certification and standards of practice for tradesmen, it is important to note that the regulations only relate to the certification of these individuals. These individuals may be subject to local ordinances, laws or other requirements imposed by other state agencies, courts or certain localities. Questions about local ordinances, etc. should be directed to the community in which the individuals plan to engage in their trade.
