The Real Estate Appraiser Board regulates individuals and firms that estimate the value of real estate, as well as appraisal management companies (AMCs), in accordance with federal guidelines. The Appraisal Subcommittee is the federal agency charged with oversight of state appraisal regulatory programs. The Appraisal Foundation, a non-profit entity designated by Congress as the source of appraisal qualifications and standards, serves as an umbrella organization for the Appraisal Standards Board and the Appraiser Qualifications Board.
New Online Application for Temporary Appraiser License
Applicants seeking a Temporary Real Estate Appraiser License may now apply online through DPOR’s new digital application system. This online option is only for temporary licenses currently.
To ease the transition to the digital application, we also will continue to accept paper applications for the temporary license through June 21.
This marks a first step in DPOR’s broader effort to offer a fully digital application experience for additional license types in the future.
If you have any questions or encounter issues accessing the new system, please call (804) 367-8526 or email reappraisers@dpor.virginia.gov.
